The Midwest Yoshinkai Aikido Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt education corporation set up under the laws of the State
of Illinois. The Association was established in 1965 to oversee Aikido Yoshinkai in the Midwestern area As a MYAA member,
the student receives a number of benefits and services.

The functions of the Association are several. It serves as the official representative of the Aikido Yoshinkan Foundation
in Japan and is authorized to grant certificates of advancement The Midwest Yoshinkai Aikido Association, is incorporated
as a non-profit for the INTERNATIONAL YOSHINKAI AIKIDO FEDERATION in this country.
It also serves as the vehicle through which potential instructors receive training and certification and is responsible
for assisting all of the full-time Aikido Yoshinkai instructors in MYAA, as well as the many part-time affiliated teachers.
Most importantly, it has the task of educating the general public and promoting aikido in North America. The MYAA is a not-for-profit
organization in the State of Illinois.
Because instructors are not salaried, all training fees are applied to the development of Aikido programs, such as training,
and facilities. Instructors open new classes in locations where people show interest. Aikido training brings you into contact
with yourself and ways to achieve harmony of mind and body and with others. While Aikido is a martial art, emphasis is placed
on individual safety and respect for others during training. Colored belt ranking is used to ensure that students progress
in a structured and systematic manner.
